We are delighted to formally announce the Mayo Clinic's involvement with the BodyBenchmark Study. The prestigious US research clinic is studying the association between BVI and recognised biomarkers of cardiovascular disease (cholesterol, glucose, etc.). The research team at Mayo Clinic also plans to study the possible clinical applications of BVI to surrogate and long-term outcomes. The Mayo Clinic investigators' participation in The Body Benchmark Study follows publication of their landmark article in The Lancet in Autumn 2006 (Ref: Lancet 2006:368:666-78), which illustrated the inherent limitations of BMI in predicting risk of heart disease with patients of different BMI ratings.
