The Body Volume Index project status
The Body Benchmark Study is a major global research initiative to develop a new long-term anthropometric measurement standard for healthcare; The Body Volume Index (BVI).
The two-year clinical research study will commence in August 2007 and involve benchmarking BVI for it's numeric value (relative to BMI), clinical applications, public health applications and for patient care.
This initiative involves a collaboration between five world-renowned healthcare research organisations in the US, the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. Other healthcare specialists in child obesity, diabetes, body composition, fat distribution and health risk diagnosis throughout the world will also be involved during the two-year project.
BVI is the world's first dedicated obesity measurement standard using computers and uses a quick, safe and cost effective method of measurement.
If you are a healthcare professional and have published clinical data on body shape and BMI which is relevant to the development of BVI, please send this to us. For further information please contact - 0870 727 1658.
