First Clinical Results indicate "significant advantages over BMI"
The first clinical research for the validation of BVI has now been undertaken by Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham, part of the Heart of England NHS Trust, which houses one of the largest obesity clinics in the UK.
Dr Asad Rahim, Consultant Endocrinologist at Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham and leader of the research team for the project presented the results of the trial for the initial BVI validation at The Royal College of General Practitioners in London. The data from Heartlands are the first to be presented on BVI as part of the two-year trial.
The initial research by Heartlands Hospital on Body Benchmark will be followed by a secondary, larger research programme for BVI in adults, to be undertaken by a large medical research organisation, plus benchmarking of BVI for Childhood Obesity by a leading University. These initiatives will be announced in February 2008.
