Fight Against Childhood Obesity comes to Longbridge Innovation Centre
Select Research Ltd, a qualitative and quantitative research company, is the latest occupier at the Innovation Centre - taking around 430 sq ft of fully serviced office space.
The research team at Longbridge is pioneering the development of obesity management using the latest 3D scanning technology. Its move to Longbridge has enabled the team to focus on a research project into the body shaping and sizing of at least 200 children from the local area.
Utilising two state-of-the-art 3D Body Volume Index scanners located at its new Longbridge base, Select Research Ltd will present the findings of its two-year study to the Government’s National Child Measurement Programme, which aims to assess overweight and obesity levels among children.
Six years ago, Select Research used the same technology being used at Longbridge Innovation Centre to measure 11,000 people on behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry for the first national sizing survey since the 1950s and have also undertaken large sizing surveys for M&S amongst others.
Project manager at Select Research, Lisa Aytok, said: “With Select Research already a member of the Central Technology Belt, the Innovation Centre was always on our radar when looking for new premises in the Midlands. With the nature of the other occupiers and the level of innovation and technology within the building, we felt it was an appropriate place to set up our new base.
“The fact that the building provides a full range of business support facilities and a serviced-reception gives us an extremely convenient and professional environment in which to conduct our research.
“The flexibility of the letting terms is ideal for the nature of our business. Being project led it is important to not be tied down to anything for a particularly long length of time. However, we are very keen to stay at the Innovation Centre for the foreseeable future, as it fulfils our requirements perfectly.”
